World Youth Day 2005 was a blistering success in many different ways. We as Sion Youth were there doing an evangelistic outreach in Bonn. Sian, the outreach Co-ordinator relfects:

"29 young people: ready to stand up, to share their own faith and to serve all to make God known! 250 people came just as God promised; the team gave all they had."

The Diary of events is quite extensive, many of the things of interest that we do can be divided among the 5 mission teams listed below, however if you don't find what you are looking for here you should be able to find it on the events page.

One half of the Youth Discipleship Team. They work with young people aged between 11 and 18 years old over long periods of time, they are involved in secondry school missions: in the pre-mission process, the follow up and also in the enableing of pupils during the mission. YDT 11-18 also run the 'D Weekends' for young people in years 7-9 at school.

Cross Purposes visit secondry schools all over the country. In a school mission visit they aim to bring a sustainable injection of energy into the faith life of the school. They work collaberativly with YDT 11-18 and the staff of the school to create a mission package which will take the pupils of the school, wherever they are spiritually, onward in their journey with Christ.

The half of the Youth Discipleship Team that deals with the adults in our country who are still in the banner of 'youth'; here in Sion we spent a long time deliberating on who is the adult youth, and there are no fine lines here, but the general feel is between 18 - 35 who are not in an indefinate commitment (e.g. married, celibate, ordained or religious). YDT 18+ are responsible for, among many things, Oasis which is a series of regional places of belonging and prayer for youth, also YDT 18+ are the team who deal with Sion Youth, which is the network of young adults affiliated with Sion Community

Family Ministry is our most recently created team, being only two years old. The highly experienced team works to support the bricks of the Church, the family unit.

The longest standing team of Sion Community the Parish Team have an incredibly well developed mission structure. The team seeks to empower the parish in its drive and focus, it looks to listen to those on the fringes of the church, wether lapsed, upset or just disinterested, and to reconcile those problems and to invite them to return to worship in the Church. The individuals that make up the team are experienced in many different fields, allowing them to offer sound advice where necessery to those who already, or interested in, ministering within the Church.
