Jubilee Year
of Sion Community
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception marks the beginning of the 25th anniversary year for Sion Community.
In the wake of the Second Vatican Council, and inspired by the grace of Renewal, Sion Community came into being as a collaborative community for mission and evangelisation.
In what has been, and continues to be, difficult times for the Church, Sion Community has managed to steadily develop from being a small parish mission team into a Community involved in evangelisation at every level within the Church.
During our 25th anniversary year we wish to celebrate all that has been achieved and to honour all those who have in some way played a part in, or supported, our life and work. On the 8th December we open our anniversary year with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Malcolm McMahon of the Diocese of Nottingham; this Feast day reminds us that all that is good is brought about by God’s grace and favour.
We will continue to mark our anniversary year with different events as we move into 2010. May the Lord continue to show us his mercy and love, and may we rejoice that he has done great things for us!
