Parish Retreats

Constantly aware of the need for encouragement and support in our journey of faith, our post mission team have developed a range of retreats that might be of interest to you and of  benefit to the spiritual growth of the parish community.

Our retreats run for 5 days, and would typically start on a Friday evening and finish on a Tuesday evening.  Being able to celebrate the weekend Masses with you, would provide the team with the opportunity of meeting with parishioners and encouraging them to participate in the retreat activities.  However these days can be changed in order to suit the needs of your Parish.

The team would be much smaller than the original Mission Team, just 4 or 5 people.

Preparation for the Retreat would require just one pre-retreat meeting to discuss publicity, accommodation, hospitality and possibly providing transport to those parishioners, who otherwise would be unable to attend the Retreat.

The themes of our retreats are:

Retreat 1: Behold your Mother

There are many misunderstandings about Mary’s role in the Church. Here, we will look at the dogmas of the Church as well as the meaning of Jesus’ gift of Mary to us as our own mother. How can we come closer to her who wants us to come closer to Jesus?

Retreat 2: Light out of the Darkness

We all experience suffering, but how do we approach the difficult subject in a Christian way?  We are not trying to give answers but simply to explore the Church’s attitude to suffering while looking at the examples of Saints, old and new.

Retreat 3: Teach us how to Pray

Mother Theresa said that ‘Prayer gives us a pure heart and a pure heart is able to look at God’. In this retreat, we will look at what prayer is, both explore and use different styles of prayer. We will draw inspiration from the examples of the saints and learn, as a parish, to become a school of prayer for those around us

Retreat 4: The Power of the Eucharist

This retreat will help us to identify the effect the Eucharist should have in our lives and how we can become the Eucharist we receive.

The suggested donation for a Retreat would be £1995.00.  However, for those parishes still  within the 12 month post mission period, a reduced donation of £1500.00 would  be applicable.

If you are interested in a parish retreat please contact our administrator here.
