What is Sion Youth Mentoring?
Sion
Youth Mentoring is a structure in which a young person (mentee) is paired
with someone (mentor) who is one step ahead of them on their faith journey.
The mentor is there to help the mentee grow in their faith and in their
relationship with God. Normally the mentor would be in touch with their
mentee at least every 4-6 weeks, by telephone or in person. The mentor
is there to listen, to encourage and to pray with their mentee.
Eventually it is hoped that the mentee will be far enough along their
own faith journey to become a mentor themselves, in which case they will
be paired with a mentee, whom they will then have responsibility for.
A mentoring relationship is normally entered into for a period of one
year. Both the Mentor and the Mentee should have copies of the relevant
guidelines for the mentoring structure. The Mentoring Co-ordinator will
monitor the relationship, making sure the guidelines are adhered to and
will contact both the mentor and mentee at the 6-month stage to assess
how the relationship is developing.
This is a life-changing, nation-transforming and church-building programme
which will be part of our fulfilling the Sion Community vision. If you
are 16+ and want to grow and deepen in your faith then why not choose
to take part in our mentoring scheme. Subject to availability we'll provide
you with a mentor who is a little older than you to keep in contact with
regularly and aid your discipleship.
If
you have any questions or would like any further information:
The Mentoring Co-ordinator is Alice
Hall.
