Frequently Asked Questions about S.E.N.T., Brentwood
What is S.E.N.T.?
S.E.N.T. stands for Sion Community Centre for Evangelisation and National Training, and is the headquarters of Sion Community. It is also home for several members of the community.
How do I contact you?
In the first instance, please submit your enquiries to our administrator on 01277 215011; or email admin@sioncommunity.org.uk
How do I get to S.E.N.T?
Everything you need to know is on our main S.E.N.T. page.
What time do retreats start and finish?
It varies from one event to another. Please check with the event leader; alternatively please contact our administrator for more details.
What does the price of the retreat cover?
As a charity, Sion Community offers its events on a donation basis, but our ongoing work does depend on our receiving sufficient donations to make our work sustainable. The suggested donation for a residential event would cover: the event/course itself, plus board and all meals including breakfast. A non residential event or if you are staying as a non-resident, the suggested donation covers the course and main meals (not including breakfast). For one day events, people are usually asked to bring their own packed lunch; refreshments will be provided by the Community unless specified otherwise.
Can I come for just part of a retreat?
We prefer for people to attend the whole event as there is a process and a journey to our events but this will be at the discretion of the event leader.
Can I stay extra days, before or after my Group Retreat?
Sometimes this is possible depending on the reasons and provided availability of accommodation.
What is the accommodation like?
Most of our bedrooms are standard twin-rooms to enable more people to attend our events. We also have 3 double rooms. We also have one double bedroom with an en-suite. There are plenty of facilities at either end of each of the corridors as well as kitchenettes, where tea and coffee making facilities are available to use 24/7.
Do you have access for people with disabilities?
Yes. There is a dedicated parking space for those with limited mobility, with level access into the house. We have ramps both in the house and outside. Three of our bedrooms are located downstairs for ease of access and we also have a disabled bathroom on the ground floor.
Can you cater for my allergies / special dietary requirements?
Yes. We are both able and happy to cater for a variety of dietary needs, including gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, diabetic and of course anyone who may suffer from specific allergies.
Please make clear any special dietary requirements you have – at your time of booking.
If you have a serious allergy – please make this known to both the catering manager and the first aider on sight.
What should I wear and what should I bring with me?
As a Christian community, we wish to grow in holiness, respect and honour for all our brothers and sisters. We would therefore ask that this be taken into account when preparing to join us. Please can we ask that clothing be modest and non-revealing. It is a big house and although heated, parts of the house can feel a little chilly – so an extra jumper or shawl is a good idea. As for the rooms – extra blankets can be provided upon request.
Should I bring towels?
All guest bedrooms are supplied with towels, but please feel free to bring your own.
Are courses/events’ recordings of talks available?
This will depend on the event leader and the type of event/course. Please enquire for individual courses.
